Accessibility Initiatives in Kyiv for 2025

In 2025, Kyiv plans to launch new accessibility initiatives at more than 700 locations. This is reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration, citing Kyivavtodor.
Each renovation project will be executed comprehensively: updating road surfaces, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, lighting, and utilities, along with developing cycling infrastructure.
Special emphasis will be placed on creating an accessible environment. This includes lowering curbs, implementing tactile navigation and ramps, as well as installing elevators. Representatives from public organizations advocating for the interests of visually impaired individuals and wheelchair users will be involved in the inspections of these implementations.
A key approach remains the linear principle of carrying out renovations, which encompasses the comprehensive modernization of not only major transport highways but also surrounding streets. Thus, the current renovation plan for 2025 includes the upgrade of nearly 50 sites.
The systematic efforts of city services to create an accessible and safe environment, particularly in transport infrastructure, are part of the Action Plan for creating an accessible space in Kyiv, approved by the mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko. The document outlines specific measures aimed at gradually making Kyiv accessible for everyone, as well as the executors and effectiveness indicators.
