On November 8, the Day of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented awards to the soldiers and honored their contributions to the defense of Ukraine. This day will now become an annual celebration.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the paratroopers for their courage and service, emphasizing their critical role in combat operations.
Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukrainian paratroopers are key players in the fight across various fronts, specifically in the Pokrovsk direction and during the Dobropillya operation.
The President emphasized that without the efforts of the Airborne Forces, achieving significant results in the war for the country's independence would be impossible.
“Every Airborne Forces soldier is a symbol of pride and independence for Ukraine. Thanks to you, we have hope for a bright future,” he said during the ceremony.
In memory of the fallen heroes, attendees honored them with a moment of silence.
Volodymyr Zelensky awarded four Heroes of Ukraine with the “Golden Star” for their outstanding feats on the front lines.
Among the honorees is Colonel Oleg Zmyslyi, who commands the 148th Separate Artillery Brigade and has eliminated 1,600 invaders.
Also recognized were Lieutenant Colonel Konstantyn Revutskiy, Private Vyacheslav Tkachenko, and Junior Sergeant Dmytro Shavaldin for their bravery and skills in battle.
Additionally, the President awarded other military personnel, including Major Ruslan Bilobrov and Colonel Eduard Kolodiy, who demonstrated heroism in combat.
