Ukraine is in the process of finalizing a deal with the United States regarding the transfer of technology for combat drones that have been «tested in warfare». This is reported by the Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, which cites officials from both countries, Ukraine will receive «royalties or other forms of compensation» in return.
Ukraine's key advantage in this agreement lies in its extensive experience in mass production of low-cost drones that have proven highly effective in combat scenarios. While American companies «produce complex drones», Ukrainians specialize in «mass-producing affordable» UAVs.
A team of Ukrainian specialists led by Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Boyev has already commenced «multi-day negotiations» in Washington with representatives from the Pentagon and the State Department.
A U.S. government representative noted that finalizing a detailed agreement, which could be worth billions of dollars, «is likely to take months».
