Ukraine's Diplomatic Efforts: New Talks with the US

The Ukrainian delegation held talks with the special representative of the US president, Steve Witkoff, during its visit to the United States.

As reported by "European Truth", this was announced by Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on his X account.

Yermak noted that he spoke with Witkoff in New York along with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serhiy Kyslytsia.

"Our main priority is to advance real diplomatic work and ensure the implementation of all agreements reached at the summit in Washington. We are coordinating our efforts", Yermak stated.

The head of the Office mentioned that he informed the Trump representative about the ongoing war crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine, including the recent massive attack on Kyiv that resulted in 23 casualties.

He emphasized that Russia is not taking any steps that could lead to the cessation of the war and, on the contrary, is prolonging it.

"Ukraine welcomes all peace initiatives proposed by the US. Unfortunately, each of them is being stalled by Russia. We are open to direct negotiations at the leaders' level and ready to discuss a wide range of issues. We believe that international pressure is needed for Russia to genuinely prepare for steps towards peace, including holding a critically important meeting of leaders for that purpose", Yermak added.

He also invited Witkoff to visit Ukraine in the near future.

It should be noted that on August 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Vladimir Putin would only meet with Volodymyr Zelensky after preparing a "summit agenda", and there are currently no such plans.

On August 29, the Kremlin reiterated that they do not oppose such a meeting, but it must be prepared "at the expert level".

According to media reports, President Donald Trump intends to leave Russia and Ukraine to organize a meeting between their leaders, thus temporarily stepping back from negotiations.
