The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a new decree enabling women local council members working on a voluntary basis to cross the state border without restrictions during the state of war.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko via Telegram.
The government made a decision concerning women local council members who fulfill their duties on a volunteer basis: they can now freely cross the border during the state of war, she stated.
Svyrydenko emphasized that "previously, even on a legal leave, they could not travel — to see their relatives or bring aid to our military. This significantly restricted their volunteer activities and forced some to resign from their mandates".
She added that "the new decision removes these barriers. We want women council members to remain active and continue developing their communities".
Svyrydenko clarified that these changes apply to council members at all levels, except for those who receive a salary for their work in local government.
As previously reported, the Cabinet of Ministers updated the border crossing rules on August 26. Now, men aged 18 to 22 can also cross the border without restrictions during the state of war. These changes will take effect the day after the decree is officially published.
