Firefighters in Greece are actively tackling numerous forest fires that have erupted in recent days. The risk of new outbreaks remains high, especially on Friday.
According to Ekathimerini, the fire front on the island of Chios remains active between the villages of Leptopoda and Kampia.
In Halkidiki, a fire that started Thursday evening in Straton is partially under control, with 60 firefighters and 20 vehicles deployed to prevent the blaze from reaching residential areas.
In Achaia, the situation has improved, and two arrests were made in connection with yesterday's flare-up.
The fire in the wider area of Sichaina in Patras has been extinguished, but firefighting forces remain on standby.
The risk of forest fires on Friday remains elevated in regions such as Attica, Peloponnese, central Greece, Thessaly, central Macedonia, eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as well as in the northern and southern Aegean Sea.
Meanwhile, Spain is facing a severe wildfire crisis, with extensive damage reported, including the destruction of thousands of hectares of land and the evacuation of many residents.
Tragically, the country has already lost three lives, including two volunteer firefighters.
