On August 13, a meeting of the commission responsible for establishing memorial plaques was held under the Department of Public Communications of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The director of the Department, Myroslava Smirnova, stated: «Memorial plaques serve as a vital link between generations, honoring those whose knowledge, talent, and dedication have shaped our nation. We preserve their names within the city so that every resident and visitor remembers that history is made by people. It is up to us to ensure these names live on in the memories of future generations».
List of memorial plaques:
- at Vyshgorodska Street, 67 – to the prominent gerontologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladislav Bezrukov. His research in aging and health preservation for the elderly laid the foundation for the development of gerontology in Ukraine;
- at Science Avenue, 45 – to physicist and academician Volodymyr Machulin. His contributions in semiconductor physics earned Ukraine international recognition and advanced fundamental and applied research;
- at Mykhailivska Street, 2 – to opera singer Roman Maiboroda. His unique voice and performance artistry captivated audiences in Ukraine and around the world;
- at Sretenska Street, 15 – to Archbishop, theologian, and public figure Nestor Sharayivsky. His work focused on affirming Ukrainian spiritual and national identity.
