For the first time in history, the «Red Hall» at the station has transformed into an art studio where Lesia Khomenko has been working since mid-July.
The artist creates in the heart of the station, blending the artistic process with the flow of passengers. Here, she is crafting her largest canvas — measuring 21×12 meters, as reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.
The canvas echoes the architectural rhythm of the station's stairs, while transforming it into an «endless» motion that embodies the diversity of Ukrainian society.
This work symbolizes the collective efforts of all Ukrainians who are protecting their culture and values.
Her new work will be showcased at the station at the end of August during her personal exhibition at PinchukArtCentre, which opens on August 28.
Lesia will also create a new 30-meter canvas in the shape of a trench for the exhibition, which will be presented as an immersive installation.
The project is implemented in partnership with Ukrzaliznytsia, promoting the integration of contemporary art into the railway space. Previous projects have been presented as part of this collaboration.
Lesia Khomenko is a Ukrainian artist and co-founder of R.E.P., nominated for numerous awards, with her works held in leading museums across Europe.
