Strengthening Law Enforcement in Ukraine: Zelensky's New Initiatives

President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced his intention to submit a new bill to the Verkhovna Rada that aims to reinforce law enforcement in Ukraine and preserve the independence of anti-corruption agencies.

He shared these plans in a video address published on his official social media channels.

Direct quote: "We all hear the concerns of the people expressing their opinions on social media and in the streets. This is not without reason. We have analyzed all the feedback and identified key issues that need change and activation.

I am prepared to propose a bill to the Verkhovna Rada that will respond to these challenges and strengthen law enforcement. Importantly, no Russian influence will be allowed in the operations of law enforcement agencies, and all conditions for anti-corruption institutions will remain intact. I look forward to constructive proposals from the leaders of law enforcement and anti-corruption bodies, as well as from the Attorney General of Ukraine regarding the norms that need to be implemented. This will be a presidential bill that aligns with our strategy for state transformation."

Zelensky also noted that during a recent meeting with law enforcement leaders, an agreement was reached to collaboratively develop an action plan aimed at "strengthening the rule of law in Ukraine."
