Ukrzaliznytsia has announced the successful completion of an agreement for the manufacture of 100 new passenger cars.
This information was confirmed by the company's press service.
"We have signed a contract with the Ukrainian manufacturer, JSC "Kryukov Car Building Works", for the supply of new passenger car models that include modern technical solutions within the budget funding for this year," the statement said.
The new cars will serve 20 years longer than previous models, thanks to extended maintenance intervals and optimized service personnel requirements, according to UZ representatives.
As part of the order, a special batch of 5 next-generation cars will feature advanced management systems, with a lifespan 80% longer and an increased capacity of up to 44 passengers in one compartment car.
The new models will have a wider body and improved layout, with a sleeping area length of up to 2.2 meters. Air suspension, which is being introduced for the first time for Ukrainian sleeping cars, will ensure a smoother ride and reduce swaying during travel. Automatic doors and sealed inter-car passages will enhance passenger convenience.
The cars will transition to electric heating with individual temperature control in each compartment, allowing for climate maintenance even during delays.
The lifespan of these new cars will be 50 years due to the stainless steel construction, which is 20 years longer than standard cars.
Among the new cars, there will be 5 compartment cars that can be transformed into SV-type cars, one of which will be equipped for persons with disabilities.
"The cost of one passenger car will be approximately 95 million UAH, while the car for people with disabilities will cost 98.3 million UAH. However, considering the longer lifespan and reduced maintenance costs, the investment in new cars is more economical," the company noted.
The delivery of the cars is planned for 2.5 years after the advance payment is received, which includes certification procedures. With additional funding, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to continue updating its fleet of cars.
