The official publication of the Verkhovna Rada, “Golos Ukrainy,” recently released Law No. 4555-IX “On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine Regarding the Features of Pre-Trial Investigation of Criminal Offenses Related to Missing Persons Under Special Circumstances During Martial Law.”

This information is available on the publication's website.

According to the document, this law takes effect on the day following its publication.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law reducing the powers of NABU and SAP.

Specifically, it concerns draft law No. 12414 "On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine Regarding the Features of Pre-Trial Investigation of Criminal Offenses Related to Missing Persons Under Special Circumstances During Martial Law," which included several amendments.

After the law was passed, NABU Director Semen Kryvonos urged the President not to sign it, stating that "two independent institutions – NABU and SAP - are essentially being made dependent."

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law regarding the specifics of pre-trial investigations of criminal offenses related to missing persons under special circumstances during martial law, which reduces the powers and effectively undermines the independence of NABU and SAP.

Members of the Ukrainian Parliament are initiating a signature collection and preparing a constitutional submission to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding the law limiting the powers of NABU and SAP.
