The number of fatalities from the military plane crash at a school campus in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has risen to 27, with 25 of them being children. Another 78 individuals are currently hospitalized.

Incident at Milestone School: what we know

A military training aircraft from the Bangladesh Air Force crashed onto the grounds of Milestone School and College in the Uttara area of Dhaka on Monday afternoon, July 21.

“Currently, 27 people have lost their lives, including 25 children and the pilot,” stated Saidur Rahman, a representative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

It is noted that most of the victims were students who had just exited their classrooms to the yard when the Chinese-made F-7 BJI aircraft crashed onto the school grounds.

According to military officials conducting the investigation, over 170 people were affected by the crash. Currently, 78 injured individuals are receiving treatment in hospitals. Earlier, Reuters reported that four people were injured in the incident and taken to a military hospital in the area.

Emergency services and investigators continue to work at the scene to determine the causes of the crash.
