Hungary's Referendum Results: Majority Against Ukraine's EU Membership

The government in Hungary has announced the final results of a referendum regarding support for Ukraine's entry into the European Union, revealing that 95% of participants voted against it.

According to Orban's administration, a total of 2 million 278 thousand Hungarians participated in the voting, with 95% opposing Ukraine's EU membership and 5% in favor.

This number represents approximately 29% of the Hungarian electorate who were registered to vote in last year's European Parliament elections (7.8 million people).

Telex notes that the number of votes and overall results may raise legitimate doubts, as practical checks have shown that a single person can vote twice by using different email addresses.

Government spokesman Gergely Gulyás stated at a recent briefing that paper ballots undergo notarization and are "impossible to falsify", and that electronic votes are also being checked. However, he could not confirm whether the system would detect those who voted first with a paper ballot and then electronically. He mentioned that online votes account for only about 10% of the total.
