The Ukrainian government has initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to the recent attacks by Russia on Ukrainian territory.

This was reported by Ukraine's representative to the UN, Andriy Melnyk.

UN Security Council Meeting in Response to Russian Aggression

«I have just sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council requesting an urgent meeting in light of the escalating missile terror by Russia against the peaceful residents of Ukraine», - said the representative.

He noted that just last night, the massive attack by Russia claimed the lives of many Kyiv residents, with over a hundred injured, and residential buildings have been completely destroyed again.

«We are dealing not only with war crimes against civilians committed daily by the Moscow regime.

These are crimes against humanity that require not only condemnation but also decisive action and practical steps from the international community, especially the UN Security Council», - emphasized Melnyk.

The diplomat added that he plans to meet with the President of the Security Council, Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett of Guyana, on Tuesday to discuss further steps in accordance with the UN Charter.

«I hope that the members of the Security Council will respond firmly to Russia's criminal actions. It is time to end the Kremlin's impunity», - he concluded.
