The Kyiv region is launching an initiative in collaboration with European partners to create an eco-friendly waste processing hub. This project focuses on zero toxic emissions and electricity generation, specifically up to 10 MW. Reports state that this will be a significant step towards sustainable development in the area.

During a meeting in Obukhiv, local community representatives and the management of 'Obukhivmiskvtorresursy' discussed key aspects of constructing a facility that will process solid household waste. In addition to environmental benefits, plans include utilizing residual heat for heating urban facilities, which will enhance energy efficiency.

According to Mykola Kalashnyk, the head of Kyiv region, the implementation of this project will not only create new jobs but also raise ecological awareness among communities. Modern recycling technologies are expected to reduce the negative impact on the environment and contribute to the development of ecological infrastructure.

It is also worth noting that Kyiv is investing significant resources into ensuring the stable and eco-friendly operation of landfill No. 5 until its closure process is completed.
