A New Era for Startups in Ukraine

The Ministry of Education and Science has announced the establishment of a network of startup schools in Ukraine that will function as incubators and accelerators for new ideas. These educational institutions will be based in universities and research centers, as stated by department representatives.

"Members of the new network provide a range of services, including financial consulting, marketing support, legal assistance, and educational programs to help commercialize scientific developments and create innovative products", – emphasize in the ministry.

This initiative is aimed at supporting students, researchers, and young entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas for implementing scientific startups.

The startup schools plan to offer innovators:

  • expert support and mentoring;
  • access to necessary infrastructure;
  • tools for attracting funding;
  • opportunities for practical business skill development.

The main goal of this initiative is to stimulate entrepreneurship related to scientific research, commercialize their results, and support technological progress in Ukraine.

Currently, 23 higher education institutions have joined the network, including:

  • State University "Kyiv Aviation Institute";
  • Kyiv Academic University;
  • Vinnytsia National Technical University;
  • Sumy State University;
  • National University "Odesa Polytechnic";
  • National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic";
  • Ukrainian Catholic University;
  • Kyiv School of Economics;
  • National University "Lviv Polytechnic";
  • State University "Zhytomyr Polytechnic";
  • SET University;
  • Odesa National Economic University;
  • Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
  • Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych;
  • Prikarpattya National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk;
  • Vadym Hetman National Economic University of Kyiv;
  • National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic";
  • Kryvyi Rih National University;
  • Vinnytsia National Agrarian University;
  • Dnipro National University named after Oles Honchar;
  • National University "Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuriy Kondratiuk";
  •  
  • Paton Institute of Electric Welding NAS of Ukraine.

The Ministry notes that other universities and research institutions can also join this initiative by filling out a special questionnaire.

Applications will be reviewed by the Ministry's Innovation Development Council, and institutions will receive a decision regarding their admission to the network via the email specified in the questionnaire.

As a reminder, earlier it was reported that the government allocated 500 million hryvnias for the renovation of natural science classrooms as part of the preparation for the reform of secondary schools.
