In Ukraine, there have been 426 applications from citizens for demining agricultural lands under the state compensation program, with more than 1,500 hectares cleared in 2025.
This was reported on television by the director of the Humanitarian Demining Center (HDC), Volodymyr Baida, as informed by Ukrinform.
“We are witnessing considerable progress in the program. To date, we have received 426 applications covering over 14,000 hectares of agricultural land (previously, only 3,000 hectares were cleared in three years).
We have already conducted 65 auctions and signed contracts totaling 835 million UAH. Regarding the cleared (from mines) territory – this year alone, more than 1,500 hectares have been released,” he stated.
According to Baida, 3 billion UAH has been allocated for the program in 2025.
“Farmers are much more active this year. Last year, only eight out of 85 operators participated in the auctions; this year, nearly 20 are involved,” Baida noted.
He clarified that of the 235 applications this year, 110 were rejected due to the lack of non-technical land surveys.
