In Ukraine, the number of individuals suffering from gambling addiction has tripled over the past year. Currently, 12,807 Ukrainians are listed in the Registry of Gamblers.
This information is reported by "Opendatabot".
Throughout the last year, the Registry has seen an addition of 9,389 new individuals, while 1,496 were removed due to the expiration of their limitation period.
According to "Opendatabot", since its establishment, the Registry has included a total of 14,979 people, of which 2,172 have already been removed.
It is noted that 99% of all entries in the Registry come from voluntary requests. Individuals submit applications for self-exclusion to restrict their access to gambling establishments and participation in games of chance for a specific period. The limitation period ranges from six months to three years.
At the same time, only 1% consists of individuals who are restricted by the decision of the KRAIL. Throughout the existence of the registry, there have been 169 such decisions, most of which occurred last year.
Last year, an average of 780 individuals were added to the registry each month, which is 2.8 times more than in 2023 when the list was updated by approximately 280 individuals monthly. The highest number of self-exclusion requests was received in April — 1,041, and the lowest in June — 524.
In the first two months of 2025, 1,719 individuals have already been added to the Registry, averaging 860 per month, which is a 10% increase from 2024.
"Opendatabot" emphasized that there is currently no clear statistics in Ukraine regarding the actual number of citizens with gambling addiction, and the figures from the relevant registry do not reflect the full picture, particularly concerning individuals playing in online casinos.
