Impersonation of Military Personnel Leads to Assault in Chornomorsk

In Chornomorsk, Odesa region, three individuals posing as military personnel assaulted a 41-year-old cyclist, demanding his documents. The police have apprehended the offenders.

Details of the incident: "Three young men in military uniforms blocked the cyclist's path, claimed to be from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, and began demanding documents, accompanying their demands with physical violence".

It was also reported that the assailants have no affiliation with the military and forced the victim into a vehicle.

The cyclist managed to call the emergency line 102. Police identified the attackers, who turned out to be members of a local NGO without authority to conduct mobilization activities.

Items seized from the suspects, aged 22, 25, and 27, included the car used in the assault, membership IDs, and other evidence relevant to the investigation.

They have been charged with the unlawful assumption of authority and illegal deprivation of liberty, accompanied by physical harm to the victim. They face up to five years in prison.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
