The Republic of Latvia has announced the provision of an additional 125,000 euros for the restoration of energy facilities in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine following a meeting between Andrii Sybiha and Baiba Braže in Kyiv.
“The heads of the foreign affairs ministries focused on supporting Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of the winter season. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Latvia for the financial contribution of 125,000 euros, which will aid in the restoration of energy facilities, ensuring stable electricity supply and stabilizing the energy system,” – stated the Ministry.
Sybiha expressed his deep appreciation to Latvia for its comprehensive support of Ukraine since the early days of the full-scale invasion, including the annual defense assistance amounting to 0.25% of Latvia's GDP. The total volume of assistance has already exceeded 1.6% of Latvia's GDP.
“This includes weapons, ammunition, training for military personnel, and financial support. We are also grateful to Latvia for joining PURL and for the recent transfer of 42 PATRIA 6x6 armored personnel carriers,” — added the minister.
Additionally, Sybiha thanked Latvia for rebuilding critical and civilian infrastructure in Chernihiv region and for providing rest opportunities in Latvia for Ukrainian children. The interlocutors also discussed the implementation of current projects in Chernihiv region, totaling 5.7 million euros, as well as priorities for the next year.
