A farmer from Kherson has received his first compensation for mine-clearing land he cleaned at his own expense, amounting to nearly ₴5 million.
This information was shared by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine on Telegram.
«The Humanitarian Mine Clearance Center has paid the first contract for the clearance of lands that the farmer cleaned privately», the report states.
It is noted that this concerns the agricultural society «First of May» in the Kherson region, where specialists from Ukroboronservice cleared an area of over 1,150 hectares in March-April 2023. The cost of these works was nearly 6 million hryvnias. Under the state compensation program for land mine clearance, the farmer received 80% of this amount – 4.76 million hryvnias.
The area for which the agricultural society «First of May» received compensation is located in the Berislav district of the Kherson region, primarily growing grain and oilseed crops. During the Russian offensive in 2022, part of these lands suffered due to hostilities, and a significant portion of machinery and livestock complexes were damaged or destroyed due to shelling.
It is emphasized that the state compensation program for the cost of clearing agricultural lands allows farmers planning to clear their plots to receive 100% of the costs for humanitarian mine clearance. For farmers who cleared their plots from February 24, 2022, to April 15, 2024, the compensation is 80% of the humanitarian mine clearance costs.
As of October 24, 2025, 88% of agricultural lands in liberated Kherson have been cleared.
