UK Allocates Funds for Ukraine's Energy Recovery

The United Kingdom has announced the allocation of £13 million (over $17 million) to assist in the recovery of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This funding aims to support Ukrainians who have been severely impacted by Russian strikes on energy facilities. This information was released on the UK government’s website.
“The UK is announcing a new support package for urgent repairs in Ukraine's energy sector amid ongoing Russian bombings, as well as reallocating humanitarian aid for those most affected by the lack of electricity, heating, and water this winter,” the press release states.
Additionally, the UK announced plans to ban the servicing and insuring of maritime vessels transporting liquefied natural gas from Russia, relying on recent sanctions against two major Russian oil companies — “Rosneft” and “Lukoil”.
“This measure will significantly reduce Russian LNG exports and directly cut off access to the UK’s leading maritime services. The ban will be implemented gradually over 2026 in coordination with our European partners,” the statement said.
