A new film highlighting religious persecution has been created by a team of investigative journalists, including Danilo Mokryk.
According to Olga Rudенко, the editor-in-chief of «The Kyiv Independent», the film reveals the names of officials involved in religious persecution and features interviews with clergy from churches banned under Russian occupation.
«This week we are releasing a new, significant film: „No God But Theirs“. It addresses how Russians are persecuting Christians in Melitopol. The importance of this film lies in its potential to resonate with Western audiences, especially Americans, as the theme of religious freedom is very relevant to them. The persecution of Protestants is particularly pressing», — wrote Rudенко.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, churches have become not only places of worship but also centers of stability for the citizens of Melitopol. Daily prayers for Ukraine were held in the central square,
However, believers soon had to go underground. The occupying authorities conducted searches, interrogations, banned church activities, and confiscated property. Some priests were deported or forced to flee under pressure and threats.
The primary audience for the film is international, but the «The Kyiv Independent» team will host a special screening in Ukrainian for viewers in Kyiv.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the authors.
